April Chan
April is a Philosophy PhD student. Her main research interests concern the ethics of parenthood & procreation, especially as these issues intersect with migration. She is a native Hongkonger, a first-generation college student, and a former high school teacher. She is also a proud mom of three cats and a volunteer at the Evanston Animal Shelter. Srishti Chatterjee
Srish is a PhD student in Rhetoric, Media and Publics, in the Department of Communications. They research the contested meanings of expertise and credibility in science and technology communication among marginalized communities that are censored or neglected by the state. Srish writes widely about deliberative democracy and mis/disinformation as collaborative work, focusing on how community-led education works to resist various forms of the information disorder. Prior to the PhD, Srish was an experienced public policy professional, working across local government, civil society campaigns and the Federal Senate in Australia to pass legislation safeguarding the rights of LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, and refugees. They hold a BA (Honors) in Sociology and Communications from the University of Melbourne, where they served as autonomous student union chair for Women's and Disabilities' Departments. Viashima Ko
Viashima Ko is a Ph.D. student in Black Studies. He is researching the interaction between queer life and state-side failures in Nigeria to theorize reverse-interpellative subject formation under conditions of state non-legibility. Originally from Nigeria, Viashima earned a B.A. and M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Ibadan and an M.A. in Women’s & Gender Studies from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee.  Ryann Monteiro
Ryann Monteiro 
Ryann Monteiro is a third-year PhD student in the Department of Sociology at Northwestern University and a Graduate Fellow at the Center for Native American and Indigenous Research (CNAIR). She holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) and brings a background in community-centered research that bridges academia, non-profit organizations, and tribal governments. Her work focuses on food systems, land-based practices, and the intersections of race, culture, and sovereignty, with particular attention to social and lifestyle movements and how people pursue sovereignty.
